Everyone loves Dobby. I was going to write a bit about who Dobby is and what is importance is to Harry, but you all know that. And if you don’t know that, then for shame and you definitely should.
So, anyway, everyone loves Dobby. Hermione spent quite a lot of time knitting hats for the house elfs hoping to free them from their servitude at Hogwart’s. I don’t think it worked. And who did she think was going to make her breakfast and do her laundry if not for the house elfs. I mean really, its not like there was a whole battalion of mothers working at the school. =)
But if we were to knit hats for house elfs, what would they look like? My Mum has done a great job with this. This is a hat she knit for poor Dobby.
This actually started from a pattern here:
And while this girl had the best of intentions and her hat was very cute, her pattern just wasn’t quite right. The number of cast on stitches does not work at all with the k4, p4 repeats, nor does it work with the decreases.
So my clever ol’ Mum has re-written it so that it makes more sense. I love the colors in this hat. So much fun.

This girl has also knit that hat from the original pattern. Very cute too. She must have fudged some things to get it to work though.
Thanks Mum for contributing to this blog today. I have a couple of things to finish, but then I think I will try out my own hat. I have a friend that has a baby and I think a smaller one would be just great on a baby. He happens to have big eyes and big ears too!
